Who We Are

Applied Global Health Research

We participate in numerous collaborative research programs that focus on global health challenges–from treating infectious diseases to providing access to health care for mothers, children and other vulnerable populations. For example, CGH is currently participating in research on cardiovascular disease in Africa, working with Mexican partners in New York and Mexico City on tuberculosis-related projects, and studying the determinants of gastric cancer in the Chinese-American community.

The 10/90 Gap

" Every year more than US $70 billion is spent on health research and development by the public and private sectors. An estimated 10% of this is used for research into 90% of the world's health problems. This is what is called "the 10/90 gap."
