Preparing Practitioners for Globalization

Our elective track in global health provides medical residents and senior-level students in health-related fields with leadership skills, competencies, and field experience. In this way we prepare them to meet the future health care needs of America’s increasingly diverse communities. The track provides skill-based training and a modular interdisciplinary curriculum on global health. To put learning into action, participants engage in clinical fieldwork and applied research projects that are developed with academic and community-based partners in immigrant communities in New York and their countries of origin.

CGH will offer a Global Health Track to residents in internal medicine, emergency medicine, surgery, pediatrics, psychiatry and obstetrics-gynecology at NYU School of Medicine.

A basic graduate level course in epidemiology is a prerequisite.

The Global Health Track will allow residents to:

  1. Obtain a diploma in global health simultaneously to completing their residency
  2. Complete a fully accredited residency of their choice
  3. Receive training and coursework related to global health
  4. Complete an international field rotation in an underserved community and/or in an underserved community in New York City
