From Tuberculosis to Terrorism--
Health is a Matter of Global Concern

In response to today's global health challenges, The Center for Global Health (CGH) reaches across disciplines and international borders and brings together partners to provide education, training and research programs that:

Advance the education and performance of our health professionals and students in health-related fields to meet the challenges of globalization.
Increase responsiveness to emerging global health threats in the United States and abroad.
Improve our preparedness for reacting to manmade and natural disasters.
Strengthen collaboration and the sharing of experience and knowledge among various stakeholders in health.

The September 11th attacks and the subsequent intentional release of deadly germs brought us to a new awareness of how vulnerable we are to both external and internal threats.
The International Health Medical Education Consortium's 14th annual conference entitled "Training the Global Health Workforce: Needs, Challenges and Methods" takes place in San Francisco on March 30 to April 1st 2005.
"Investment in Global Health Saves 8 Million Lives a Year and Generate at Least a $360 Billion Annual Gain within 15 Years," claimed a 2001 report from the Commission on Macroeconomics and Health, established by the World Health Organization. 2004 Update.
