Linking
Interdisciplinary Education Research and Practice
The forces that create and intensify global
health threats are complex and their roots are biological,
social, political, economic, environmental, ethical, and cultural
in nature. Medicine must reach beyond the traditional definition
of health and disease and integrate the wealth of experience
accumulated by practitioners in other fields.
The training programs and research
agenda are grounded in academic rigor but determined by changing
community needs and field practices. Research findings are
fed back into the education and training programs that are
in turn translated into improved professional skills and community
practice.
